Having a twin child

Big global issues sometimes feel impossible to affect by yourself. Children poverty, hunger crisis, global warm up – how could you, a simple individual, possibly make a difference? To answer the question, I want to tell a story about a small girl and his grandfather:

A small girl is walking along the beach with her grandfather. The beach is filled with hundreds of starfish, washed up by the sea. The small girl throws the starfish back into the ocean one at a time with a constant eager. The grandfather notice the impossibility in the task: the girl will never be able to throw all the starfish back into the ocean, since they are simply too many. Therefore, he tells the girl: “Why are you wasting your time on such a task, it won’t make any difference.” The girl looks up, surprised, and responses: “But it matters to him”, and holds up a starfish before she throws it back into the ocean.

This story demonstrates the importance of all of ours participation and contribution to a better world. Even though none of us can change the world in a trice, all can make a difference for someone - for a human being, for a starfish.

With this story in mind, I have decided to have a twin child. I won’t be able to prevent all children in the world from being hungry or miserable. However, I am able to improve the living conditions for one child. That is one step in the right direction. And I am a part of it. I encourage you all to do the same.
